De fet, estudis que han analitzat bi\u00f2psies musculars de pacients amb nivells baixos de vitamina D suggereixen que es produeix atr\u00f2fia en les fibres musculars tipus II (anomenades fibres r\u00e0pides), crucials per a la majoria dels atletes.3,4 Malgrat la seva import\u00e0ncia per a la salut, la prevalen\u00e7a de nivells insuficients de vitamina D \u00e9s comuna entre la poblaci\u00f3.4 A m\u00e9s, encara que no hi ha molta evid\u00e8ncia sobre aquest tema, les dades suggereixen que aquesta insufici\u00e8ncia de vitamina D tamb\u00e9 podria ser comuna en l&#8217;esport d&#8217;elit.5,6<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>La vitamina D es mesura a trav\u00e9s dels nivells en sang de 25(OH)D, situant-se el nivell \u00f2ptim per al rendiment esportiu en 125nmol\/L (50ng\/ dl). A causa del paper rellevant de la vitamina D en la funci\u00f3 immunit\u00e0ria, en la s\u00edntesi proteica, i en la funci\u00f3 i estructura muscular, avaluar de manera rutin\u00e0ria els nivells s\u00e8rics de vitamina D en els esportistes podria ajudar a millorar el seu rendiment. Per tant, la vitamina D ja no reflecteix \u00fanicament la salut \u00f2ssia, sin\u00f3 que mostra en part l&#8217;estat de salut de la persona.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Malgrat la seva import\u00e0ncia, les caracter\u00edstiques de l&#8217;esport d&#8217;alt rendiment dificulten els estudis d&#8217;intervenci\u00f3, per la qual cosa fins avui no es t\u00e9 molta informaci\u00f3 disponible sobre quins s\u00f3n els nivells de vitamina D en jugadors d&#8217;elit al llarg d&#8217;una temporada. Amb l&#8217;objectiu d&#8217;estudiar com varien els nivells de vitamina D en esportistes d&#8217;elit i com influeix l&#8217;ambient d&#8217;entrenament (entrenar a l&#8217;aire lliure o en espais tancats), el moment de la temporada i suplementar-se o no amb vitamina D, s\u2019ha realitzat un estudi en el que hi han participat membres del departament m\u00e8dic del FC Barcelona i que ha analitzat a 95 jugadors de diferents seccions del club (22 de l&#8217;equip de futbol de primera divisi\u00f3, 21 de segona, 12 de futbol sala, 12 de b\u00e0squet, 17 d&#8217;handbol i 11 d&#8217;hoquei sobre patins) al llarg d&#8217;una temporada (2011-2012).7<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Els resultats van mostrar que, de mitjana, les concentracions totals de 25(OH)D van ser de 92 ~nmol\/L en tots els jugadors, amb nivells m\u00e9s alts en els jugadors que es suplementaven (~95 nmol\/L) i en aquells que entrenaven a l&#8217;aire lliure (~100 nmol\/L). Cal destacar que al voltant del 25% dels jugadors van presentar nivells inferiors a 75 nmol\/L, per\u00f2 cap va estar per sota dels 50 nmol\/L.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2>Com influeix entrenar a l&#8217;aire lliure, l&#8217;estacionalitat o suplementar-se en els nivells de vitamina D?<\/h2>\n<p><strong>L&#8217;estacionalitat va influir en els nivells de vitamina D, de tal manera que es van observar concentracions de vitamina D significativament m\u00e9s altes a la tardor en comparaci\u00f3 amb l&#8217;hivern i la primavera. Les concentracions m\u00e9s altes de vitamina D al llarg de l&#8217;any es van observar en els jugadors de futbol, especialment en els que jugaven en segona divisi\u00f3 i prenien suplements durant tot l&#8217;any, mentre que les concentracions m\u00e9s baixes es van observar en els jugadors de b\u00e0squet (Figura 2). Els jugadors d&#8217;hoquei patins, de futbol sala i de futbol de segona divisi\u00f3 es van suplementar durant tot l&#8217;any. Per contra, nom\u00e9s es van suplementar el ~6% dels jugadors d&#8217;handbol, el ~27% dels jugadors de futbol de primera divisi\u00f3 i al voltant del 60% dels jugadors de b\u00e0squet. Aix\u00ed, a nivell general, els jugadors que es suplementaven van tenir nivells de vitamina D m\u00e9s alts que els que no ho feien. Aquells jugadors que jugaven o entrenaven a l&#8217;aire lliure van tenir concentracions de vitamina D m\u00e9s altes (105 nmol\/L) que els que van entrenar en interiors, independentment de si es suplementaven (85 nmol\/L). I, quins aliments s\u00f3n fonts importants de vitamina D? Els peixos blaus com el salm\u00f3, els xampinyons i aliments com la llet, el formatge. A m\u00e9s d&#8217;incrementar el consum d&#8217;aliments rics en vitamina D, la seva suplementaci\u00f3, tal com es planteja en aquest estudi, tamb\u00e9 podria exercir un paper important en els esportistes d&#8217;elit.
